The villagers protest against the coal-fueled electricity generation plant

The news is about the construction of a coal-fueled electricity generation plan in the area close to local agricultural communities. It involves in the environment problems and live of people. Nowadays, Thailand has many environment problems, and most of people who get the effect against the factors that cause the environment problems. But some people just think about their own benefit. This story may be the case that you can see the main problem of the environment problems.

Chachoengsao villagers protest against the construction of the coal-fueled electricity generation plant. They demand the project to be moved elsewhere. The villagers are concerned that the power plant would destroy the environment, create health problems, and affect their living lifestyles, giving the examples of such problems that the people in Mae Moh of Lampang and Map Ta Phut of Rayong are facing now.

Now that the problem with the environment seems to be critical, we should look into all problem more closely. The intention to make things better should be in everyone's thoughts. I think the project's owner move their project elsewhere because the environment near the construction of the coal-fueled electricity generate plant may degrade. The villagers might be in trouble. So if they move elsewhere which don't have any local agricultural communities, it would be better for everyone.

Local People in Koh Samui protest against the oil exploration plan

The environment is the interesting topic because mostly of the environment problems affect the public. We should decide to do something about environmental carefully such as sort the garbage, avoid garbage burning, etc. because it causes bad result of environment problems.

People and tourists in Koh Samui protest against the oil exploration plan. Local people points out that the authorities did not allow the public to take any part in making decision of oil exploration concession. There is a small public hearing but only 20-30 people attending and the concessions were granted despite the opposition. The main problem is not a location of oil drilling platform but the construction may affect to local people and the environment. Moreover, there might be a problem of oil leak. But the most important issue is tourism industry because the oil exploration will definitely have effects on the environment.

Many times the government's plan seems to focus only on technology, economy, or development. The plan would help in developing the country. But we should look at all factors including the ones that would effect the environment as well. I think the authorities should listen to the public and think about bad effect in the long run. It may make bad environment and make local people in trouble. So the authorities should do it for the benefits of the public.

PAD Supporter Given Suspended Jail Term

The protest of red-shirt supporters in first half of this year is the result of the protest of yellow-shirt supporters from two years ago. So I search news of yellow-shirt supporters, and found about the court hearing for the protesters who rallied in front of the parliament at that time.

Preecha Treecharoon, People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) supporter who gathered in front of the parliament. He was among PAD supporters when the police fired tear gas at them. He injured five policemen while trying to get away in a pick-up truck. He was arrested and prosecuted for attempted murder and was sentenced to three years and a half in prison. But the jail sentence is suspended for two years as he has never committed a crime before.

I think the court are not neutral. He tries to kill five persons. So why does he get only three years jail term? What about 17 UDD leaders? In my opinion, all of them are guilty but I feel like the court are biased.

UDD Leaders Court Hearing

There have many things happen on the first half of this year. One of famous news is the assembly of red-shirt in business zone of Bangkok. This news show the result of their make. Actually, this news is sensitive topic. The truth of this story is still vague. News network have different information.

The prosecution files charges against 19 leaders and supporters of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) for terrorism. Two defendants don't attend the hearing because they are protected by parliamentary privilege. The prosecution files the indictments accusing the 19 UDD leaders of committing terrorist acts, illegal assembly, staging armed unrest, defying a legal order to end illegal activities, and violating the emergency decree. The 17 defendants deny all charges against them and will fight the case in court.

The red-shirt supporters rally in Bangkok about three months and it destroys the country and the people in many ways. The most important business zone of Bangkok is ruined. The event also claims many lives. Now, the chaos has ended. There is an attempt to fond someone or some group to take responsibility. I think the answer is too clear. No one takes responsibility of this event.

Bar-B-Q Plaza misses its revenue target because of political dispute

I choose this story because this story shows the impact of political problems clearly. On the first half of this year, there is a long term political protest and the protest is at the center of business zone in Bangkok. Many shops have been closed down for a long time. I think many people want to know about effects in business aspect.

Bar-B-Q Plaza misses its year revenue target in the first half because of political dispute. Major branch of Barbecue Plaza locates near the protest area. Now, this branch already burned by the protesters. The renovation of Future Park Bangkae at the beginning of this year also affects its revenue. Barbecue Plaza plans to attract more customers by setting up CRM(Customer Relation Management) activities to provide the promotions or set the activities for its customers. Moreover, Barbecue Plaza plans to have 8 branches in 2011.

Political disputes always effect the people in that country. Thailand is no exception. The protest in the center of business area causes even bigger problem, for it not only effects the people but also their business. Once it's over, everyone has to figure out the way to get back on their feet. I think the marketing strategy of Barbecue Plaza is good. Businesses in the second half of this year might be better. It is a good idea to open new branches. But I think the revenue in the second half is expected to be less than it should be in the first half without the chaos.

Lower Price of BlackBerry

I choose this story because BlackBerry is popular in Thailand. Today, mobile phones are not only to call someone or send messages but also use in social network and chatting. Many people want to buy BlackBerry. But somebody doesn't have enough money to buy it. So many service providers use these properties of the mobile phone in their marketing strategies. Dtac has launched a new promotion by lowering the price of BlackBerry does make it easier for everyone to have BlackBerry.

Dtac has launched a new promotion by lowering the price of BlackBerry for Smatphone lovers. Dtac has reduce the prices of 2 BlackBerry models. BlackBerry Curve from 9,900 bath to 8,900 bath. BlackBerry Bold from 19,900 bath to 15,900 bath. This promotion starts from 12 August - 30 September only.

I think this is a good news for somebody who wants to buy BlackBerry. I want to buy it too, so it is a good news for me. This promotion may makes the competitors do something about their promotions and the benefits will be on consumers' side.

Cybercrime in Thailand

Today, every household in this world use the internet every day. The internet is one of the most important things in our life. Meanwhile, the internet leads people to the bad events. Somebody spends so much time on the internet. But worst than that, somebody is tricked by cybercriminals.

Increasing of the online population makes cybercriminals increase. Symantec Internet Security Threat Report shows that Thailand ranked 21 in global malicious and in the 6th place in the Asia Pasific region. Cybercrime takes root in developing countries such as Brazil, India, Poland, Vietnam and Russia. Targets of cybercriminals are developed countries that government crackdown. Is is less likely to bo prosecuted. The attack from cybercriminals are vary. They are stealing the information through the social networking for monetary gain. Reported by Symantec, more than 240 million new malicious are founded in 2009, 100 percents increase from 2008.

Internet is common in every households. It becomes a necessity in everyone's life. It helps people around the world to keep up with things. However, all coins has two sides, so does the internet, it is good for people but it can harm them as well. I think the cybercrimes can happen to every one who use the internet. I believe that even a smart person may tricked by cybercriminals.
